In one of my foundational courses, my class and I were asked to redesign an album cover of a song/album we liked. Since I was previously an album cover designer (and, hence, have already redesigned all my favorite songs/albums), I decided to ask my professor which song she would like to see redesigned. She chose “Goodbye Earl” by the Dixie Chicks.
When making the preliminary compositions, I wanted to focus on the visualizing the lyrics of the song. I took inspiration from the black eye (peas), sunglasses, and the tarp. I then went on to refine the compositions.
I decided for the second iteration to be the final design.
After developing mockups and refining it based on feedback, I am confident that my skills have improved. I hope you have as much fun spotting the little details in this cover as I did adding them!
